Internationally, the film added an estimated $33.7 million in 27 markets, lifting its international total to $87.7 million after two weeks of release. Granted, this is lower than we predicted, but not so much lower than anyone at Disney should be panicking. Weekend Estimates: Ralph Slips, Still Strong, Hannah Tops Expectations, Still Soft It is definitely the best bet for fans of Giallo and / or Film Noir. In the end, I went with a late screener, The Forbidden Photos Of A Lady Above Suspicion: Collector’s Edition Blu-ray. There are a couple of contenders for Pick of the Week, but the The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends: The Complete Series DVD is a re-release at a more reasonable price, while it is worth waiting to get the The Miseducation of Cameron Post: Special Edition Blu-ray. There are some big releases, like Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, but none of them are good. It’s not a good week on the home market. Home Market Releases for March 12th, 2019
Here’s a round-up of what’s playing around the world, and how markets are recovering. Some local films are also doing well, partly thanks to the lack of competition.
China took advantage of an opportunity to release a movie from the Harry Potter archive for the first time in the territory, and Australian film fans got a chance to enjoy some original Star Wars. Progress is being slowed by the lack of new films, particularly from US studios, but catalog titles are filling the void.
The slow march to recovery at the box office continued in international markets at the weekend as theaters opened up and moviegoers continued to return. International Round Up: Harry Potter Puts a Spell on China, Crosses $1 Billion Worldwide
Figures will therefore fluctuate each week, and totals for individual titles can go up or down as we update our estimates.īecause sales figures are estimated based on sampling, they will be more accurate for higher-selling titles. In particular, we adjust weekly sales figures for the quarter once the total market estimates are published by the Digital Entertainment Group. We refine our estimates from week to week as more data becomes available. The consumer spending estimate is based on the average sales price for the title in the retailers we survey. The market share is converted into a weekly sales estimate based on industry reports on the overall size of the market, including reports published in Media Play News.įor example, if our weekly retail survey estimates that a particular title sold 1% of all units that week, and the industry reports sales of 1,500,000 units in total, we will estimate 15,000 units were sold of that title. Our DVD and Blu-ray sales estimates are based on weekly retail surveys, which we use to build a weekly market share estimate for each title we are tracking.
